The current study focused on the roles of lyrics and melody in song perception, by examining developmental patterns and the ways in which lyrics and melody are processed in the infants' brains using near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS). Lyrics and melody are two key components of songs, and much of the research on song processing has examined how the two components of the songs are processed. Compared to speech development, however, much less is known about how infants process songs or how songs affect their development. Songs and speech play central roles in early caretaker-infant communicative interactions, which are crucial for infants' cognitive, social, and emotional development. The primary reason for reading the Percy Jackson books in publication order is the ability to read the books as adoring fans did years ago. If you’d prefer to see a list of Percy Jackson books in order by series, keep reading below. Rick Riordan flip flopped between series a lot as he wrote, so if you follow this list, it may be a bit chaotic of a reading experience. To avoid complicating things, I’ve removed the series names from the publication order list. However, each of the books on this list are in the Percy Jackson Universe of books. “Percy Jackson Books” might be a bit of a misnomer here as Percy himself isn’t in all of them. Percy Jackson Books in Order by Publication Now let’s get on with our list of Percy Jackson books in order. Meaning that names and places will be familiar. These books, however, are set in the same world. Others, like the Kane Chronicles, Trials of Apollo, and Magnus Chase, don’t feature Percy at all. While some of the books do give you more Percy, he isn’t the central character. If you’ve fallen in love with Percy Jackson and are hoping these books are more Percy, you’ll probably be a little disappointed. These include The Heroes of Olympus, The Kane Chronicles, Demigods and Magicians, Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, and The Trials of Apollo. In addition to Percy Jackson & the Olympians, Rick Riordan has written several other series. Now he finds himself thrust into a world with which he’s not familiar.Īlong with some new companions, Grover and Annabeth, Percy begins training at a demigod training school called Camp Half-Blood. Up until his first encounter with the realm of mythology, Percy thought he was an ordinary boy. Percy himself is a demigod and the son of Poseidon. In particular, Percy Jackson centers around Greek mythology. It’s a Middle Grade (MG) book similar to Harry Potter and Artemis Fowl which feature the adventures of younger characters on fantastical journeys. Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a book series written by Rick Riordan that follows the many character, Percy Jackson. There are two ways to read Rick Riordan’s books, but before we dive into those, let’s talk a bit more about the series. Whether you’re new to Percy Jackson, looking for a re-read, or watched the movies that will never likely see more added to the franchise, you’ve found your way here looking for a list of the Percy Jackson books in order. To compare the rate of return to sports and body mass index (BMI) reduction in patients who underwent surgery for unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) with either Cobalt-Chromium (CoCr) alloy UKA or with hypoallergenic UKA, stratified by age, gender and BMI. This prospective comparative study reflects level of evidence II. The tibial slope is directly affected by the weight and measurements of the components, regardless of the instruments or the number of pegs, while clinical outcomes are correlated with implant position. The MP instrumentation seems to be effective in determining the tibial cut and, particularly, improving the tibial slope, compared with Ph-III. A positive correlation was noted between the femoral and tibial sizes and the tibial angle and the slope, and a negative correlation between weight and the tibial slope furthermore, a positive correlation was found between Oxford knee score and radiographic angles. A significant difference was found between Ph-III and MP in tibial slope in patients with body mass index (BMI) ≥25 kg/m2 (p = 0.0003). Similar results were found between small (AA, A, B) tibial size and large (C, D, E, F) tibial size for tibial varus/valgus (p = 0.03) angle and tibial slope (p = 0.003). Moreover, a significant difference was found in tibial angle and in tibial slope in arthroplasty with femoral size small (S), compared with size medium (M) or large (Ly) (tibia varus/valugs angle: p = 0.0484 tibial slope: p = 0.04). A significant difference was found on the slope between Ph-III and MP (p = 0.0005). No clinical differences were found among the three groups (p > 0.05). Postoperative alignment of the knee in the coronal and sagittal plane was measured using radiographs. The third cohort consisted of 24 hypoallergenic OUKA, using the MP instrumentation (TiNbN). The second cohort consisted of 136 OUKA, with the MP instrumentation. The first cohort consisted of 67 Oxford unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (OUKA), using the phase III (Ph-III). We prospectively analyzed clinical and radiographic outcomes of three consecutive cohorts for a total of 227 implants at a minimum follow-up of 36 months. The aim of the study is to evaluate whether the use of the new instrumentation Microplasty (MP) improves component positioning and the reliability of the surgical technique, reducing the implant outliers from the recommended range and providing a more accurate resection, while avoiding insufficient or excessive tibial resection and clinical scores. Additionally, the discovered biomarkers were verified by the metabolic pathway analysis and content change analysis, which was remarkably consistent with the previous reports. The proposed method proved to be practical for early detection of HLB, which tackled the shortcomings of low sensitivity in the conventional methods and avoid the problems such as lighting condition interference in spectrum/image recognition-based ML methods. Regularized logistic regression (LR-L2) and gradient-boosted decision tree (GBDT) outperformed with the highest average accuracy of 95.83% to not only classify healthy and infected plants but identify significant features. Six ML algorithms were selected to build the classifiers. In this study, a novel method combining ultra-high performance liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (UHPLC/MS)-based nontargeted metabolomics and machine learning (ML) was developed for conducting the early detection of HLB for the first time. Thus, it is very necessary to develop a practical method used for the early detection of HLB. The direct strategies for HLB identification, such as quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) and chemical staining, are robust for the symptomatic plants but powerless for the asymptomatic ones at the early stage of affection. Huanglongbing (HLB), one of the most destructive citrus diseases, has brought about severe economic losses for the global citrus industry. Early accurate detection of crop disease is extremely important for timely disease management. The military pursued several flight projects in the 1960s, achieved flight status for military astronauts on classified missions on the Space Shuttle in the 1980s, and has continued to advocate a human military mission in space as the twentieth century came to an end. Eisenhower made the decision to assign the human spaceflight mission to the newly created National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), DOD champions continued to argue for a role for military astronauts. Even after 1958, when President Dwight D. Based on the results obtained in this study, RF coverage for UHF communication links was determined for the anticipated astronaut worksite in the shadow region underneath the space shuttle.īefore the beginning of the space age in 1957, the Department of Defense (DOD) of the United States (U.S.) sought to gain the mission and the technologies to carry out human operations in space. The signal strength was obtained by computing the reflected and diffracted fields along the propagation paths between the transmitting and receiving antennas. The computer simulation tool based on the geometrical theory of diffraction (GTD) was used to compute the signal strengths. Computational investigations were also performed using the electromagnetic modeling techniques. A series of near-field measurements were performed using the NASA/JSC anechoic chamber antenna test facilities. To insure the RF coverage performance at anticipated astronaut worksites, the link margin between the UHF antennas and extravehicular activity (EVA) astronauts with significant vehicle structure blockage was analyzed. This study is to assess the space shuttle UHF communication performance for astronauts in the shadow region without line-of-sight (LOS) to the space shuttle and space station UHF antennas. So, from a doomed child, Zois brought us this time his memoirs of a ripe age showing that there is no age or power to stop achieving one's dream of being a published author, even by writing in his adopted language, as he recalls Misses Old Hauk of Germantown-Philadelphia that advised him to write in English, no matter what. The space shuttle ultra high frequency (UHF) communications system is planned to provide radio frequency (RF) coverage for astronauts working underside of the space shuttle Orbiter (SSO) for thermal tile inspection and repairing. And here he is now, so many years later, after he inhaled the free world oxygen of education, he displayed his art on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean with highest honors, and like a Phoenix born of fire he rose from ashes of his childhood, worked even as a special feature writer for the Voice of America in the mid-eighties in DC. Not wasting time in his new country, and without speaking any English, he joined the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and University of Pennsylvania as a full time student, and earned his master degree in San Miguel de Allende in Mexico in 1975. But unpredictably, in autumn of 1964 Zois Shuttie shocked everyone with his daring escape to Greece, and from there nine months later he landed in Philadelphia, Pa., where his father had lived until 1923. To better explain it, Zois Shuttie is an Albanian American, born in Apone year before the fascist Italy invaded his homeland, and a few years when Nazi Germany brought the shadow of death over his life. All we know of him so far is that he has participated in some sporadic anthologies from East Coast to West Coast with his poems and short stories that brought him a few small awards, in spite of his apprehension of wanting to see his writing in a book form in English as his second language. To describe Zois Shuttie as an author with his first book published in English, it wouldn't be fair to him and to his readers, even though he is a born talent in other areas of creativity. Josh Gad, a Tony-nominated actor best known for his performance as Elder Cunningham in Broadway's The Book of Mormon (which was co-written by the Frozen's co-songwriter Robert Lopez), was cast to voice Olaf. The new script, which employed "the same concept but was completely rewritten", finally solved the long-term problem with Andersen's story by depicting Anna and Elsa as sisters. On December 22, 2011, Disney announced a new title for the film, Frozen, which would be released on November 27, 2013, and a different crew from the previous attempt. However, by early 2010, the project was scrapped again. This version was "completely different" from Frozen it had a storyline that stuck much closer to the original material and featured an entirely different Olaf character, the role more resembling Marshmallow's. In 2008, Chris Buck pitched Disney his version of the story called Anna and the Snow Queen, which was planned to be traditionally animated. Later on, other Disney executives had made efforts to translate this material to the big screen, however these proposals were all shelved due to similar issues. However, the story and the characters proved to be too symbolic and posed unsolvable problems to Disney and his animators. The Disney studio made their first attempts to adapt Hans Christian Andersen's fairytale, " The Snow Queen", as early as 1943, when Walt Disney considered the possibility of producing a biography film of the author. He is voiced by Josh Gad.ĭevelopment Origins and concept Olaf helps Anna and Kristoff find Elsa and journeys with them all the way back to the kingdom, where he remains part of the sisters' lives and appears again in the 2019 film, Frozen II. Olaf is recreated by Elsa as she accidentally plunges Arendelle into an eternal winter. He then reappears as a character in the film as Anna searches for her runaway sister in hopes of restoring summer. Olaf is first presented in the 53rd animated film Frozen (2013) as an inanimate snowman created by Elsa and Anna in their childhood. Olaf is a fictional character from Disney's Frozen franchise, produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios. In this monthly LinkedIn newsletter, I share actionable tips to help you with your career. In April of 2008, Youtube itself got involved, redirecting an estimated 6 million web surfers who clicked on its featured videos towards Astley’s music video. Links were popping up left and right, taking visitors on a surprise journey to Astley hand jiving in a tan trench coat. The following year, one user began using Astley’s video for “Never Gonna Give You Up” instead of the duck image and the trick took off like wildfire on the internet. In 2006, the site’s moderator ran a word filter replacing every use of the word “egg” with “duck.” As a result, a thread about “eggroll” became “duckroll.” One contributor took the joke one step further by posting a “bait and switch” hyperlink that promised unrelated content but instead took visitors to a picture of a duck on wheels. The internet phenomenon grew out of a prank on the obscure anime fan pages on the website 4chan. Odds are if you’ve been on the internet for a fair few years you’ve come across a rickroll at least once. Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you Rickrolling The chorus has become iconic and gone on to inspire a number of memes. He then rattles off a “car salesmen-Esque” pitch in the chorus, relaying a series of promises to the object of his affection. Right from the opening lines, it’s clear that Astley wants to put his devotion out on the table. Astley apparently joked with the producer, “You’re never gonna give her up.” They worked the story around a bit and made Astley the one who was laying it all bare, but the general meaning behind the idea was still intact. The lyrics fell into place after Astley overheard a besotted Waterman on the phone with a girlfriend. Inspired by the syncopated bassline from Colonel Abrams’ 1985 hit “ Trapped,” Waterman claims they wrote the entire thing in just three minutes, but in a 2017 interview with The Guardian, his co-writer Mike Stock said, “He’s lying… It all took a couple of months to get there.” Behind the Lyrics Pete Waterman spotted Astley singing in a soul band and brought him into the studio to make tea for the other artists while they worked out what song to give him. The trio created a number of hits for Bananarama, Kylie Minogue, and Sinitta. “Never Gonna Give You Up” was written and produced by the hit factory of songwriting, Stock Aitken Waterman. Clearly, a sizable portion of the world is familiar with this Astley track, but do they know the story behind the song? Let’s look into the meaning behind “Never Gonna Give You Up” below. The track itself has amassed over 500 million streams and 1.2 billion views on YouTube. Today, the internet meme is still going strong, and subsequently so is “Never Gonna Give You Up.” Two decades after its release, the song “rickrolled” its way back into the public consciousness in the mid-2000s. Despite finding success with a number of tracks, it is undoubtedly “Never Gonna Give You Up” that has stood the test of time. |
